Description
“Take a Break” is a play on words, drawing inspiration from the brick walls commonly seen on buildings throughout Brooklyn. The title carries a dual meaning: phonetically, “break” echoes the word “brick,” referencing the visual and structural inspiration behind the piece. The design captures the vibrant and diverse textures of city façades. “Brick” is also the name of another furniture series of mine, and both works share a distinctive self-developed technique—sewing wood veneer. Together, they form a conceptual dialogue. The second meaning of “Take a Break” refers to its more literal interpretation: an invitation to pause and rest. As a two-piece furniture set, the design transforms—when you “take a brick” from it, it becomes a bench where one can sit and relax. When putting two pieces together, it functions as a TV stand. And it’s also a form of rest when you watching TV. I believe this title captures the spirit of the piece perfectly, and I hope it brings a sense of comfort and ease into your home.
